In the meantime, we are organizing teleworking with all our students. Here are some resources and hints in that purpose :
1. How to make a proper film review at home : download the worksheet we used during the cinema festivals. The students can watch a film of their choice and write its review using this document.
Remember: don't spoil the film in your review, concentrate your summary on the beginning of the film! Also, be careful to make the difference between what is a good actor and what is a good character. You may read examples of other students' film reviews here.
2) In addition to the previous document, on the image below, you can see how to connect the five film categories of the E-STAFF (Best Film, Best story, Filmmaking, Acting and Cultural Heritage) to the various cinema vocabulary and skills we studied in class, during the cinema festivals and during the whole filmmaking process. Students can use this image to compare different films or film extracts they watched, make a ranking of those films and justify this ranking.
3) Students can also watch a good youtube channel about cinema history and/or criticism. Here is Le Fossoyeur de Films (in French) but there are many others...! Example with "La Peur au Cinéma" (Fear in Cinema) which evokes, for instance, German expressionist cinema - but not only - with a lot of humor, explaining lots of cinema notions and techniques :
4) They can finally shoot a report about their life in confinement, speak of their daily routine, to share with their friends and develop their editing skills... For those who don't have an editing software, it is possible to edit videos online with Adobe Spark. But there is also open-source and free software on the internet.
